Temporary change to fit notes

From 17 December 2021, employers can only ask employees for proof of sickness after 28 days of sickness (including non-working days). This applies to absences beginning on or after 10 December 2021, up to and including absences which begin on 26 January 2022. For absences beginning on or after 27 January 2022, the self-certification period will revert to seven days.

The temporary change has been brought in to provide GPs with more time to work on the COVID-19 booster programme.
