Statutory rates increase
The government published statutory rates from April 2021 are available here.
Note there are minor uplifts for maternity pay, paternity pay, shared parental pay, adoption pay and parental bereavement pay to £151.97 or 90% of the employee’s average weekly earnings, whichever is lower (up from £151.20 in 2020/21).
Statutory sick pay is rising to £96.35 (from £95.85 in 2020/21) on 6 April 2021.
Finally, the maximum amount of a week’s pay for the purposes of calculating statutory redundancy pay is also set to increase on 6 April 2021 to £544 (up from £538 in 2020/21).
Schools should be mindful of the above changes when planning future budgets and ensure amendments are made to any relevant policies to reflect the above increases.
