Updated DfE guidance – staffing and employment advice

The updated guidance draws attention to some legislative updates and guidance and covers, in general terms, matters regarding recruitment of staff, safeguarding checks, management of staff (absence management, capability, disciplinary, grievance and redundancy), teachers and support staff pensions and guidance in respect of schools with a religious character. Our list here is not exhaustive as several other topics are also covered within the guidance.

As the guidance links to other sources of information, such as Acas guidance and Keeping Children Safe in Education, we consider it a useful summary to anyone working in education to understand the contractual and regulatory framework in school and academy settings. It is available here.
